Obituary - The Enterprise - 27 January 1949
Rites for Mrs. Emma Soll Held Tuesday
Pioneer of State, Native of Omaha. Resident of Blair 42 Years
Mrs. Emma Soll, as Miss Emma Rathmann was born in Omaha October 19th, 1863 when this state was in its territorial form. She died January 23, 1949 at the ripe old age of 85 years, 3 months and 4 days. Deceased was married to Peter Soll in 1882 and for ten years they farmed near Bennington. In 1892 they moved to Scribner, Nebraska where they resided until 1907 when they moved to Clair where they spent their declining years. They observed their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1932 and in the same year the husband died and after that time she made her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Z.B. Smith, of Blair. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Z..B. Smith of Blair and Mrs. Ernest Dau of St. Francis, Kansas and one son, Ludwig L. Soll of Blair as well as eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Mary Anderson, and one brother, Gus Rathmann, of Blair and a brother, John Rathmann, of Lebanon, Oregon. Funeral services were held Jan. 25 at the Campbell Mortuary with Rev. Stilwell in charge and interment was made in the Blair cemetery. Thus another pioneer has been called, a pioneer who lived a life above reproach, who knew and met the rigors of the pioneer and whose entire life was influenced by those early days.

Her plot was purchased by Z. B. Smith; the funeral Home was Campbell
