T.N. Carpenter, New Hope, Dies: Short Illness Proves Fatal; Funeral Tomorrow Afternoon

Tom N. Carpenter, 68, prominent farmer and extensive landowner of New Hope, died at his home there at 12:30 o'clock this afternoon following a short illness of pneumonia.

Mr. Carpenter was born and reared in New Hope.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Wilburn Carpenter, at home, and Robert E. Carpenter, Athens; four daughters, Miss Elizabeth Carpenter, who is attending school in New York, Mrs. Louis Moore, Birmingham, Mrs. Roy N. Hereford, New Hope, and Miss Mary Ben Carpenter, teacher at Elon school; two sisters, Mrs. Laura Worley, New Hope, and Mrs. Alice Jetton, Arab; one brother, Dr. J.A. Carpenter, New Hope.

Funeral services will be held from the New Hope Methodist church at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. The Reb. W.R. Beal, assisted by the Rev. S. Keel, will officiate. Interment will follow in New Hope cemetery with Butler Bros. in charge of arrangements.

Nephews of the deceased will serve as active pallbearers. They are Dr. James Carpenter, Allen Carpenter, Oscar and Allen Worley, Herman Vann, Earl and Frank Carpenter, and Carpenter Jetton.
