25 Jun 1877 - 5 Feb 1892
America Ella Carpenter, fondly called "Ella" by her family, was the eighth child born to Thomas Carpenter and Hester Ann Chandler Carpenter. Ella was 13 years old when she died of an asthma attack two months before her 14th birthday. She was loved, remembered, and missed by her family and will not be forgotten.
Once again, the tragedy of the swift hand of fate in the days before medications and medical treatments reminds us of the precarious health issues of the time that are today manageable.
Several years ago, a photograph of Ella was found among the papers of Alice Carpenter Jetton, a sister, by Susanna Leberman, a great-granddaughter of Alice. We are thankful for this image of a sweet girl who died far too young.
