Blair Sackett, 76, of 36 McDonnell St., former Town of Perth Assessor and school trustee, died Friday in St. Mary's Hospital.
A son of Charles and Elizabeth Gurnsey Sackett, Mr. Sackett was born at Afton, N.Y., Jan. 12, 1891, and had resided since 1910 in Fulton and Montgomery County area where he was engaged in farming. Before his retirement, he worked as a groom at Mohawk Lake, N.Y.
Mr. Sackett was a member and past master of the Perthshire Grange, a member of both the Fulton and Montgomery County Farm Bureaus, a charter member of the GLF, now Agway, and a committee member of the Amsterdam Milk Assn.
He was active politically in the Town of Perth, serving as assessor for several years, and during his tenure as a trustee of School District 11, a new school was built in the district. Mr. Sackett was a member of the Hagaman Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, the former Myrtle Kissinger, whom he married June 10, 1913; three daughters, Mrs. Floyd Mulligan, Schenectady, Mrs. Raymond J. Mcllreath, Perth, and Mrs. Robert K. Hutton, Hagaman; a son, Nelson H. Sackett, Johnstown; a half sister, Mrs. Floyd LeBarge, Laurens, N.Y.;,a half brother, Harry Broadwell, Oneonta; 18 grandchildren, five great - grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
