Benjamin C. McConnel with his wife Elizabeth Hall McConnel, their six-months old son William Nathan, and his brother John Wesley McConnel came to Idaho in 1869. They traveled by rail from Iowa to Green River, Wyoming, then by stage to Boise, Idaho, where they met their brother, David K., who had migrated to Idaho some seven years earlier in 1862.
Benjamin C. located on about 160 acres of raw land in what is now Canyon County, where he raised cattle and cut wild hay. . . This land was along the Boise River, about six miles west of the present city of Caldwell, Idaho, which did not exist at that time.
Benjamin C. and his brothers David K. and John Wesley were associated together. They had between five and six hundred head of cattle.
Benjamin C. and wife sold their above land in 1882. Soon after this sale they moved close to the mouth of the Boise River, near Old Fort Boise. The brothers then went into business independently. . .
Benjamin later lived in High Valley and on the Boise Bench, where they had a small acreage, a garden a few cows and some chickens. They lived on the above acreage for about ten years. They moved to Twin Falls about 1915.
