Thomas was the eldest of four children born to Nicholas and Issabell Blenckarne around 1579. He married Jennet (Gennarde) Proude on 27 Nov 1602 at Terrington, York, England. They had five children:

Edward--(died as a baby)
Richard
EDWARD--named after his late baby brother.
Janard
Philip

Thomas was a husbandman and inherited from his father, Nicholas, his home and 3 oxgang of land. He left it to his eldest son the right of lease to the home. To his second son, Edward, he gave some property in Ings, which was near Terrington. The third son, Philip, only a gray mare. Thomas had three sons and one daughter to live to adulthood. His wife died in childbirth after their fourth child, Philip, was born. He died at birth or shortly thereafter. Children were all delivered by a midwife in attendance. Philip was baptized on the same day they buried his mother. It doesn't appear that Thomas remarried. Thomas was a churchwarden in the year of 1611. His son Edward, was a churchwarden in the year of 1635 and son, Philip, in 1636, while eldest son, Richard, held the position in 1641. Being a churchwarden was not always an easy thing to do. The secular affairs of the parish were supervised by two churchwardens elected by most of the substantial parishioners for at least a one year tenure. Their duties included, besides the arresting of backsliders, the onerous task of assigning the seats in church and thereby proclaiming the social rank of every regular attendant.

Thomas was probably born about 1579, married on 27 Nov 1603 and died at about 50 years of age in 1629. He was buried on 24 May 1629. The only dates for certain are the marriage and death dates.
