Johann Georg Peter (George) Heimann was born in Burgschwalbach, then Duchy of Nassau, to Maria Elisabetha Walchenbach and Johann Georg Anton Heimann. They are said to be from the Burgschwalbach branch of the Heimann/Heymann family.

George and Margareta married on January 20, 1859 at the church in Kaltenholzhausen. First they lived on the Heymann homestead where Margareta was born. This is also where their first child came into the world. They then moved to Burgschwalbach, where three more daughters were born. The youngest, Marie Philippine, died at age two months and is buried there.

On March 4, 1868, Margareta and George began their journey to the United States with their three daughters. Three months later, Margareta gave birth in the new country to the couple's first son. Their next child, a girl, died in infancy in 1870. They would then have four more children.

Although George had been a shoemaker by trade in Germany, the family settled on a farm near their relatives, two miles north of Hunt's Corners and joined the Reformed Church there. In 1902 they moved to a farm in Wood County and attended the Reformed Church at Haskins.

After retiring from farming due to ill health, George lived with his daughter Emma Herner in Ridgefield Township, Huron County and passed away in her home. At the time of his death, he had 127 descendants including one great-great-grandchild.
