Services for Katherine May Hadenfeldt will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2011, at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Rev. Jim Olsen will officiate the service.
Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer.

Katherine May Hadenfeldt, the daughter of Maurice and Verna Rogers Pannell, was born May 1, 1933, in Estherville, Ia. Her childhood years were spent in the Spencer area where she attended school and graduated from Spencer High School.

Katherine worked at Ralph Fischer Insurance Agency and Spencer Construction Company. She married Ronald Hadenfeldt in August of 1956 at First Baptist Church in Spencer, Ia.

Katherine enjoyed volunteering and visiting at the nursing homes, making friends, and having lunch with her sisters. She was a longtime church volunteer and spent a lot of time working at the Family History Center where she enjoyed genealogy. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she taught the Primary children. She loved being a wife and mother on the farm near Everly, Ia. and spent her life serving others.

Katherine passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2011, at the Spencer Hospital at the age of 78.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Lorraine Taylor and Laura Hughes; and one brother, Duane Pannell.

Left to cherish her memory are her four children: Larry Hadenfeldt of Perkinston, MS, Lonnie (Becky) Hadenfeldt of Spencer, Ia., Loren (Kristin) Hadenfeldt of Menomonie, Wis., and Rhonda Hadenfeldt of Saucier, MS; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters: Jeanette Sherman of Spencer, Ia. and Evelyn (Geoff) Barry of Larchmont, N.Y.; other relatives and many friends.
