She was born Dec. 18, 1919 in Rigby, Idaho, to Seymour Hyrum Thornock and Janet Leishman Moffat. She was the middle child of seven. The family moved to many different places in Idaho, but she mostly grew up in Idaho Falls and Pocatello. She graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1939.
Five days later, she married the love of her life, Everett Crook. In May of this year, they celebrated 72 years of marriage. They lived in California, where they raised their two daughters, then moved to Idaho Falls for the past 27 years.
She was a Pink Lady at EIRMC with her sister, Elaine, for 18 years. For more than 30 years, she knitted dishcloths while watching Utah Jazz basketball. Many people at Christmas time received a little brown bag with her dishcloths.
She was known for her humor and wit and visits from family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Everett; daughter, Janice Powers, of Ramona, Calif.; and grandchildren, Vanessa, John, Brian and Kelly, all of California.
She is preceded in death by a daughter, Karen; parents; brothers, Delos, Verl, Dale and Jay; and sisters, Beth Orr and Elaine Parker.
The family would like to thank the Intensive Care Unit staff and doctors at EIRMC, and her care provider, Dee Dee, whom she loved.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Idaho Falls LDS North Stake Center, 955 Memorial Drive, with Bishop Greg Poulter officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Coltrin Mortuary, 2100 First St. in Idaho Falls.
