She was born Dec. 11, 1919, in Victoria to John Peter and Maria (Dreiling) Geist.
She married Roland W. Butler on Nov. 18, 1942, in Hays. He died May 6, 1982.
She was a homemaker and worked at Travenol Laboratories Inc. in Hays for 10 years. She and her husband owned the Butler Grocery Store, Gorham, for many years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella, both of Gorham. She spent most of her lifetime in Gorham, moving to Hays in 2001.
Survivors include three sons, Allen Butler, Portmouth, Va., DeVere Butler, North Richland, Texas, and Galen Butler, Gorham; two daughters, Sheila Bohannon, Oak Hills, Va., and Paula Karst, Russell; a sister, Linda Jensen, Atascadero, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Bonaventure Geist, Henry Geist, Aurelius Geist and Bernard Geist, and infant, Bernard Geist, and three sisters, Agnes Wiesner, Bridget Stegman and Pia Staab.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Gorham; burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Gorham. A vigil service is at 7 p.m. Tuesday and a Daughters of Isabella rosary is at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, both at Cline's Mortuary, Victoria. Visitation is from 1 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
