Sarah was the daughter of Thomas Athy Jr. and Sarah Barker. Thomas was born in Feb. 14, 1717 St. Johns Parish, MD. and passed away Jan. 1762 in Prince George Co., MD. Sarah Barker Athey was born Jan. 3, 1725 King George's Parish, MD and passed away 1799 in Prince George's, MD. Thomas Athey Jr. was the son of Thomas Athey Sr. (1695 Prince George Co., MD-1764 Prince George's) and Ethel Elizabeth Finley (1698 St. John's Parish, MD-1746 Prince George, MD).

Sarah and Richard had 7 children Lucinda b. 1779, William b. Feb. 20, 1784, Richard Jr. b. 1790, Anna b. 1777, Maria Chaterine b. 1790, Elizabeth b. 1781, and Jacob b. 1792.

The children married the follow people Lucinda 1st married a Pratt and they had 3 children and after her move to OH. she married Harleigh Sage. William maried Catherine Hile and Margaret Griffin and Magdalena Reber, Richard Jr. married Elizabeth Glaze, Anna married William E. Rout, Maria Catherine married a Mackay, Elizabeth married James Green and Jacob is unknown.

Lucinda's 2nd husband fought in the American Revolultion and was buried in Forest Cemetery in Circleville, OH. Pvt. Harleigh Sage was born Nov. 27, 1766 in Hartford Co., CT. and died Jan. 8, 1828 in Pickaway Co., OH. His FG # is 78676436.

Richard Staige Sr. was born Nov. 1735 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. When he first emigrated to this country he settled in Fairfax Co., VA. It is known that Richard came to this country before the American Revolution and did fight in the Amer. Rev. William steadily moved across the state of VA. settling in several different counties and in 1808 the family settled in Pickaway Co., OH. Most of his children and their spouses came with him.
