Richard's parents are unknown, but I did find that his father may have been Lord Grenliff. Richard came to this country before the American Revolution and may have fought in the revolution. There is more proof needed on that front. He came to this country and settled in VA. where all of his children were born. His wife was born in Prince George Co., MD. The family worked their way across Virginia settling in many different areas until 1808 when they settled in Pickaway Co., OH. where Richard passed away in 1811. The following children moved to Pickaway Co., OH. with Richard: Lucinda (a widow with 3 children), William, Richard Jr., and Anna Staige Rout and her husband William. William and Ann married Dec. 12, 1797 in Frederick Co., VA. I believe William Routt fought in the American Revolution joining on June 9, 1777 in VA. Catherine Staige MacKay, Elizabeth Staige Green and Jacob have not been found. There are still many descendants of the Staige family in the Pickaway Co. area today.
