Mrs. Harry A Strong
Mrs Elna (Eddy) Strong, 85, of Lathrop Home, 15 South St., Northampton, founder of the former Northampton Registry of Nurses, died Friday in Cooley Dickinson Hospital Northampton.
She was the first district nurse in the Northampton area.
Mrs. Strong started the registry in 1930 and sold it several years later. She also originated a physicians' answering service along with the registry.
A native of Chesterfield, she was a graduate of Northampton High School, a 1913 graduate of Lynn Hospital School of Nursing, and widow of Harry A Strong.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Northampton.
She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Harriet Rozwene of Amherst, Mrs. Esther Norris of Westhampton and Mrs. Jean Diruzzo of Concord; two sisters; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday in the church with burial in Bridge Street Cemetery, Northampton. Charles R Dutton funeral home, Northampton, is in charge. Donations may be made to the church music memorial fund.
