"Edna M. Witwer
Services for Edna M. Witwer, 86, of 1018 W. Lawrence St., who died about 7:40 p.m. Friday in St. Paul Retirement Community, South Bend, after an illness, will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in Bubb Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Monday in the funeral home. She was a member of the Auxiliary of American Legion Post 161, and of the River Park Church of Christ.
Mrs. Witwer was born in Roann, Ind., on Feb. 1, 1899, and had lived in this area since 1914, coming from Blytheville, Ark. She had retired from the Uniroyal plant in 1964, after 30 years of service. As Edna Stout, she married Carl O. Witwer in St. Joseph in May 1917, and he died in 1942. Surviving are two daughters, Vera M. Brackeveldt and Maxine E. Witwer, both of Mishawaka; a granddaughter, Marcia A. Hirsch, of Mishawaka; a stepbrother, Ray Yazel of Lakeville; and a stepsister, Hazel Shamory of South Bend."
