Maxine was born on January 11, 1920 in Mishawaka as the daughter of Carol O. and Edna (Stout) Witwer. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Vera Mae Witwer Brackeveldt.
Surviving are a niece, Marcia Brackeveldt Hirsch of Mishawaka and two “special” nieces, Karen and Morgan Hirsch of Granger.
Maxine was a 1938 Mishawaka High School Graduate. She was a member of Mishawaka High School Alumni Association, past member and secretary of American Business Women’s Association and past member of the South Bend Press Club. She worked many years as a Secretary/Bookkeeper in the South Bend, Mishawaka and Niles area.
Her dogs, Suzette, Aimee and Dolly held a special place in her heart.
The family would like to thank Healthwin Specialized care center for all their help and kindness to Maxie during her stay there and especially Brenda her special friend
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 11 at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior, in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to honor Maxine to Pet Refuge Inc., 4626 Burnett Dr., South Bend, Indiana 46614 or St. Joseph County Humane Society, 2506 Grape Rd., Mishawaka, IN 46545.
