VALLEY, AL -- ¬ Rev Clifford R. Edwards, 83, of Valley died Wednesday evening, 1 Jan 2003 at his residence.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, 3 Jan 2003 at Fairfax First Baptist Church with Revs Steve York and Brad Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memorial Gardens in Huguley, AL.
Rev Edwards is survived by his wife, Mary Marjorie Sanders Edwards; two daughters, Linda (Ronald) Ziglar of Ozark, AL, and Diane (Bonner) Greene of Huguley, AL; two sons, Reggie (Bondy) Edwards of Concord, NC and Waldo (Phyllis) Edwards of Huguley, AL; six grandchildren, Glynn Edwards, Doran Ziglar, Nathan Ziglar, Bonnie Jarrell, Krista Lenoir and Cori Edwards; and three great-grandchildren, Ethen Lenoir, Abby Edwards and Riley Edwards.
Born 16 Aug 1919 in Bloomingdale, GA, Rev Edwards was a disabled World War II veteran, where he served with the US Army. He was a retired Baptist minister and former owner/operator of the West Point Shoe Shop. He was very active in his church, Fairfax First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for 12 years, was the Baptist Men's director for eight years, and also taught Sunday school. He was also a member of Valley Masonic Lodge No. 516 and Order of the Eastern Star. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Rev Edwards was the son of the late Alice Sammons Edwards and David Lee Edwards.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Fairfax First Baptist Church in his memory.
The family will receive friends Thursday, 2 Jan 2003 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley, AL.
