Charles C. Lawrence, 87, a retired railway switchman, died at the family home, 726 Macedonia avenue, at 9:30 o'clock last night after an extended illness. He was born in Scotland Dec. 29, 1864 and came to the United States when 16 years old. He had been a resident of Muncie 52 years and he was a member of the switchmen's union and the Moose Lodge.
Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence were married 62 years ago last December.
He is survived by his wife, Lillie; three daughters, Mrs. Nelle Persinger, Mrs. Reva Baney and Miss Dorothy Lawrence; five sons, William, Harry, Harold, James, and Ira, all of Muncie; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary chapel with Rev. Charles A. Jones in charge. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery.
