Politician and military figure. He was a graduate of Simpson College. Lt. Greenwalt was joined in marriage to Margherita Elizabeth née Cook on Tuesday, August 21, 1917 in Des Moines, Iowa. She is the daughter of John A. & Hettie R. (née Benson) Cook. He served as an officer in the U.S. Army during World War I. After the war he served as the Secretary of the State of Iowa from 1931 to 1933. He was the Polk County Treasurer from 1937-1941, when he was called up for active duty in the Iowa National Guard, continuing all through World War II. He also served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He retired from the service in 1955, and moved to Florida. He was a former High School teacher. (Bio by Jay Lance)
