SEATTLE - Betty Charvet, 79, died of a sudden cardiac arrest at her home in Seattle on Sunday, June 5, 2011. She was born in Mabton, WA on January 13, 1932, the youngest child of Earl and Sarah (Moss) Hall. In her youth, she worked in the hop yards and played clarinet in school. Tall and attractive with raven hair, she was a fashion model in Spokane following graduation, and received compliments on her personal sense of style and beauty throughout her life. She married Francis Louis Charvet, her adoring husband of 59 years, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Sunnyside on November 25, 1950, then, moved to Seattle.

Betty worked part-time in secretarial positions at White Center Heights Elementary School for 17 years, and at a greenhouse for several summers. She loved to create - from beautiful hand sewn garments, to paintings for the home, to decorating, for which she had a great eye. Her delightful "Betty Original" greeting cards were enjoyed by all. She was involved in her kids' school projects, Cub Scouts, and Campfire Girls, took pride in their accomplishments, and loved her grandchildren. Betty and Frank enjoyed their social life. They were active in the Kupple Klub dance club and Burien Elks, and had fun entertaining their friends at home. After Frank's retirement, they traveled the world.

Betty is survived by her children, Earl, Kelvin, Cindy (Gurney), and David, 9 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, her parents, and her 10 brothers and sisters. Burial will be at Mabton Cemetery in a private ceremony. A celebration of Betty's life is being planned for Wednesday, July 20 at 1:00 p.m. at the VFW, 615 North Avenue, Sunnyside, WA. Those wishing to honor Betty may contribute to the American Heart Association in her name.
