Herkimer, Oct. 31 - George D. Richards, 62, a lifelong resident of East Herkimer, was suddenly stricken with a heart attack at Gray, which proved fatal, Saturday afternoon. Mr. Richards left his home at 1:30, feeling fine an apparently in the best of health. He was on his 42nd annual hunting trip.
Dr. A.B. Leeds of Poland was summoned. He pronounced death due to acute dilatation of the heart. William B. Lowell of Herkimer was notified and the body brought to the East Herkimer home.
Mr. Richards was born in Wilmurt, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John C. Richards. Most of his life was spent in the vicinity of this village. At the age of 22 he married Mary Elizabeth Lowell of Herkimer. He was one of the founders of the Herkimer Down and Out Club and a member of the board of trustees. He was also an active member of the East Herkimer Fish and Game Club and of the Royal Ancanum.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. William (Nellie Mae) Cristman, Jr.; four sons, Frank Lowell, Walter Raymond, Charles E., Herkimer and George, Jr., Cortland; 10 grandchildren; two brothers, Dr. Martin Richards; Little Falls; Albert, Springfield, MA; also a sister, Mary Evans of East Herkimer.
Interment will be at Oak Hill. Utica Daily Press, Monday, November 1, 1926.
