Carl Hovendick

DAVENPORT -- Services for Carl D. Hovendick, 91, of Davenport, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Christian Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at Runge Mortuary, Davenport.

Mr. Hovendick died Monday at Genesis Medical Center-West Campus, Davenport.

He retired in 1968 as an electrician.

Mr. Hovendick married Eva Metzinger in 1925 in Blair, Neb.

He was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 145. He also was an elder at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ and a member for more than 50 years. He helped organize Cedar Memorial Disciples of Christ, where he was elder emeritus and a member for 18 years.

His hobbies and other interests included woodworking.

Memorials may be made to Cedar Memorial Christian Church, Disciples of Christ.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Bonnie Liedtke, Davenport, and Joyce (Mrs. Sherman) Bunn, Hampton, Ill.; five grandchildren; two adopted grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four adopted great-grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; and sisters, Mildred (Mrs. John) Thomson and Mary Sutherland, both of Blair.
