MOST, FERN ELIZABETH—Fern Elizabeth Most was born to Frederick H. Wolfteich and Anna F. Markwardt on Oct. 2, 1909, at Ohiowa and passed away Sept. 22, 1994, at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 22 days. She was one of 12 children in the family.
Fern was baptized April 16, 1910, and confirmed April 13, 1924, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, which is now Grace Lutheran Church near Ohiowa.
She attended rural school and Ohiowa High School through the 10th grade. As a young girl she helped in homes surrounding the Ohiowa area.
On May 4, 1933, she was united in marriage to Clarence Most of Tobias at St. John’s Lutheran Church by Pastor Harder. Two children were born to this union, Lois and Ronald. They started their married life on a farm between Tobias and Ohiowa. They farmed together until 1971, when they retired and moved to their new home in Geneva. Fern and Clarence were privileged to spend 61 years of married life together.
Fern loved her garden and flowers. She took much pride in her home and family, and loved her grandchildren and great-grandsons, and their visits.
Due to failing health, Fern entered Heritage of Geneva on March 4, 1994.
Fern was preceded in death by her parents; two infant brothers; one brother, George Wolfteich; seven sisters, Eda Schweer, Tena Lentfer, Ella Hopken, Elsie Eppler, Lena Henkel, Marie Christiancy and LaVerne Garrison.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence; son, Ronald and special friend Carol Johnson; daughter, Lois (Gary) Pribyl; brother, Rudolph Wolfteich; two grandchildren, Dean Pribyl and Sherri (Kenneth) Harre; three great-grandsons, Justin, Brett and Logan Harre; nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral services were conducted from the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Geneva on Saturday, Sept. 24, with Pastor Paul Konig officiating.
Mrs. Paul Konig accompanied Gaylord Cradduck who sang “Amazing Grace” and “Softley and Tenderly.”
Casket bearers were Lambert Hopken, Bernard Wolfteich, Lowell Schweer Sr., Galen Niederklein, Dean Pribyl and Kenneth Harre.
Interment was in the Geneva Public Cemetery.
