DYER, ONDUS LEE, SR. (O.L.)
age 81 of Knoxville, passed away peacefully Friday morning, July 6, 2007. He was born September 10, 1925 in Union County, Tennessee. He was a member of Marble City Baptist Church and a long term resident of Marble City and Corryton. He served honorably in the US Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was an 18 year employee of Cherokee Mills and had a 28 year career with Toms Food where he was always known as a dependable employee who love to play practical jokes on fellow employees and family. He was a lifetime UT Fan, a 15 year coach of several different little league sports teams where he impacted hundreds of young children in a very positive way. He strongly believed in the responsibility of duty to train, nurture and mentor our younger generations. He was preceded in death by: father, Oscar Dyer; mother, Pearl Haun Dyer; son, Danny Dyer; great-grandchildren, Stella Dyer and Isaac Dyer; brother, Lester Dyer; sisters, Gladys Dyer, Della Watson and Ada Acuff. He is survived by: spouse, Norma Vineyard Dyer; son, Ondus L. Dyer, Jr.; daughter, Victoria Vann; daughter-in-law, Kathy Dyer Jones; grandsons, Mark and Courtney Dyer; Chad Dyer, Jeremy Dy er, Steven Dyer, Matthew Dyer; Scott Wilson; granddaughter, Melissa and Philip Luttrell; great-grandchildren, Lily Dyer, Carson Dyer, Violet Dyer, McKenzie Dyer, Daniel Dyer, Kevin Wilson and Christian Luttrell; special friend, Walt Garrett. His sense of honor, integrity and purpose will truly be missed in our family. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday with funeral services to follow at 8 pm in Cooke Mortuary Chapel, Rev. Larry Cash officiating. Music by Karyn Sloas. Interment Wednesday, 10 am in Haun Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Cooke Mortuary, Maynardville.
