Miss Mary Elizabeth Barkley, 69, a resident of Waterloo since 1903, died at 7:30 p. m. Sunday at a hospital in Independence. Death was caused by a stroke of paralysis, the second within a year.
She was born April 21, 1858, in Somerset county, Pennsylvania,the Daughter of Ezra J. & Lidia Miller Barkley and lived there for many years. She came to Waterloo in 1903. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren from childhood.
Surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Clayton M. Berkley; Edward M. Berkley; John Berkley, and Mrs. Arthur Beal.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Harvey and J. Franklin Barkley.
Funeral services will be at 10 a. m. Tuesday in the Kistner chapel, Rev. A. P. Blough, pastor of the church of the Brethren, officiating. The body will be sent to Lanark, Ill., for burial.
