EDWARD M. BERKLEY.
Edward Miller Berkley, 64, 1117 Leavitt street, died at 12:40 p. m. today in a local hospital, following a paralytic stroke which he suffered a week ago today.
Deceased was born Oct. 8, 1864, in Somerset county, Pennsylvania, the son of Lydia and Ezra J. Berkley. He married Miss Frances G. Mans Aug. 22, 1894, at Chicago. The couple came to Waterloo from that city 15 yeas ago. Deceased was a painting contractor in Chicago and Waterloo. He was a member of First Brethren church, and of the Knights of Pythias lodge of Iowa.
Surviving besides his widow are two brothers, C. M. Berkley, Waterloo, and John Berkley, Washington, D. C.; also one sister, Mrs. Charles M. Beal, Washington. Three brothers, N. J., Harvey and Frank, and four sisters, Mrs. William Steidel, Mrs. Harry Lane, Mrs. Sam Ball, and Miss Elizabeth Berkley, preceded him in death.
The body is at the Kistner mortuary.[1]
