"DEATHS - COMMUNICATED - Obituary - Rev. ISAAC N. SHANNON, a Presbyterian Minister of considerable note, died last Tuesday at the residence of his father, Nathan Shannon, Esq., near Keene, in this county. We understand he spent the earlier years of his life on his father's farm; but having determined to acquire a good education, he repaired to "Father Hervey's" Academy at Martinsburg, Knox county, and subsequently to Jefferson College, Pa., at which institution he graduated with distinguished honor in 1846. After teaching for a time he studied theology at Princeton Seminary, and was first settled as Pastor of the 2d Presbyterian Church at New Brunswick, N. J. - afterwards at Terre Haute. Indiana; and last of all, so far as the work of the ministry is concerned, spent several months at Mt. Vernon, Ohio, as stated supply and pastor elect. He left the last named place because of failing health about a year ago, and has been most of the time since at his father's house. His disease was consumption - his death an eminently easy and peaceful one that of the "righteous." He was 37 years of age, and unmarried. The funeral services were conducted on Wednesday last by Revs. Marquis, Hunt and Witham, and attended by a very large concourse of relatives and friends." ~ Source: The Coshocton Democrate ~ 7 April, 1858
