* Martha Shannon was born on the 17th of September, 1827, in Mill Creek Township, Coshocton County, Ohio, the second daughter of Nathan 1796-1881 and Mary (Endsley) Shannon 1799-1890. Martha was never married and had no children.

"Miss Martha Shannon died on the 31st of December, and was buried in the Presbyterian cemetery on New Years day. She was a zealous member of the Presbyterian church, and her life was such that no one could call in question her Christian faith. She left a bright evidence of her acceptance with her God. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. D. Wallace, and he preached to a large congregation of sympathizing friends from the appropriate text, "This woman was full of good works."
