Obituary October 9th, 1922
JAMES E. SARRETT DIED MONDAY NIGHT
Funeral Services Held at Four in Jackson This Afternoon
James Edward SARRETT, age 67, died at the home of his daughter,
Mrs. F.E. LEE, 401 Huron Street, Monday night at 9:55 o'clock.
Mr SARRETT was stricken with "Apoplexy" Saturday night
and succumbed to the stroke on Monday night.
This was the second stroke he had been called upon to endure.
The first came while he was at the Jackson ball park witnessing the
opening game of the season.
The deceased was well known in Jackson, having been a resident of
the city for the past thirty [30yrs] years. He was a carpenter by
trade and a member of the local carpenter's union.
He leaves the following children:
Mrs F.W. LEE, of Jackson,
Mrs Henry TEW, of Jackson,
Mrs Van TREASE, of Vicksburg, Miss.,
Mrs JAMES, of Luther, Tenn.,
Miss Fannie Lee SARRETT, of Monticello, Miss.
Miss Harris SARRETT, of the Medical Courps, USA, stationed at Staten Island, New York,
two brothers:
A.C. SARRETT, of Vicksburg, Miss.,
E.W. SARRETT, of Vaness, Okla.,
two sisters:
Mrs B.T. LEE, of Utia, Miss.,
Mrs Ed FORD, of Natchitoches, La.,
Mr. C.W. SARRETT, editor of the "Utica Leader" is a nephew and
Mr. W.H. SARRETT, wire chief of the "Cumberland Telephone Company", is also a Nephew.
The funeral services were held this afternoon at 4 o'clock, interment being made in Cedarlawn Cemetery.
