Horton Dailey, age 82, of Maryville, passed away Saturday, March 12, 2011, at Blount Memorial Hospital. He served in the United States Army, retired from ALCOA after 42 years, and loved farming and cattle trading. He was preceded in death by his mother, Bess; father, Wiley B. Dailey; sister, Joyce Ann; and brothers, Allen T., Austin, Dal, Cal Reed, and Rex. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Wanda Yates Dailey; daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and Doug Mincy of Maryville and Evelyn and Donald Johnson of Maryville; son and daughter–in-law, James Horton and Denise Dailey of Locust Grove, GA; grandchildren, Jason Johnson and Katelyn and Trent Dailey; brother, Marion S.; sisters, Delia Garland, Ruth Wilson, Hazel Russell, Nona Kirkland, and Kathleen Kirkland; many nieces and nephews; and special caregiver, Mary Cook. The family would like to offer a special thank you to the nurses at Blount Memorial Hospital 5 North and Dr. Scott Gardner. Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Union Grove Baptist Church (Big Gully), Rev. Ronnie Moore and Rev. Bud Millsaps officiating. Interment service will follow at Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery Fund (Karen Martin, 1801 Tom McCall Rd., Maryville, TN 37801, (865) 856-0106). The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville, (865) 982-6041, www.millerfuneralhome.org.
