WEDDING AT PORT HURAN, MICH.
Miss Ada Hackett the Bride of Harold S. Hollis of Ilion.
Ilion, Nov. 26. A beautiful home wedding was solemnized this afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Nathan Hackett, 1809 10th avenue, Port Huron, Michigan, when their daughter, Ada Ruth, became the bride of Harold Skeel Hallies [sic] of Ilion. The ceremony was performed at 4:30 o'clock in the afternoon by Rev. Edwin D. Dimond, D.D., of the First Methodist Episcopal Church. White chrysanthemums were used in profusion with smilax and palms. The dining room was in pink and white. Pink chrysanthemums and candlesticks with pink shares graced the table. Miss Hackett wore a gown of dutchess satin combined with touches of Venetian lace and pearl trimmings. Her veil of tulle fashioned into a Normandy cap trimmed with orange blossoms, fell to the hem of her train. A shower of bridal roses and valley lilies composed her bouquet. The bridal party was unattended. The bride was given away by her father in the presence of about 60 guests. The wedding march was played by Mrs. Plinn F. Morse of Detroit, Mich. The out-of-town guests were: Mr. and Mrs. C.M. Hollis, and family, Mr. and Mrs. Charles L. Clark, the Misses Clark, Miss Nellie Bancroft, Miss Sadie Alley, John L. Naylon, Mr. and Mrs. William Angell, and Mr. and Mrs. William Campbell, all of Detroit, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. Frank C. Hollis of Toledo, O., Mr. and Mrs. Carl Marshall of Danbury, O.; Mrs. Frank Reichert, of Port Clinton; Mrs. Henry Zigenfus of Niles, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. William Charles of Bellevue, Mich. Mr. and Mrs. Hollis left for an extended eastern trip and will be at home to their friends at 24 South Third avenue, Ilion, after January 1.

Together Ada and Hollie had two children: Robert Skeel (b. 1916) and Marjorie Hackett (b. 1922).

Hollie's difficulties in finding employment led the family to move repeatedly--to upstate New York, Iowa, South Dakota, and back to Iowa. (See the memorial for HAROLD SKEEL HOLLIS for a detailed history.) In 1940, Ada and Hollie finally settled in Ann Arbor, MI, building a house on Pauline Blvd. designed by their son Robert, an architect. Hollie died of heart failure in 1946 and Ada eventually came to live with the family of her daughter Marjorie Roth in Ann Arbor. She died at the age of eighty-one.
