This burial is identified as Allison Fowler, Corporal, Company A, 6th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry.

However, the soldier actually buried here is in reality an unknown soldier. He was mistakenly identified as Corporal Fowler during the process of reinterring the dead from their battlefield graves to the Soldiers' National Cemetery.

Allison Fowler served as a Sergeant in Company A of the 6th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry in the American Civil War.

He had resided at Kingston, Wisconsin.

He enlisted as a Corporal on May 10, 1861. He was promoted to Sergeant on an unknown date.

He was wounded at the Battle of South Mountain, Maryland on September 14, 1862. He was wounded again at the Battle of Gettysburg. He was wounded yet again at the Weldon Railroad, Virginia on August 18, 1864.

He was killed at the Battle of Hatcher's Run, Virginia on February 6, 1865.
