Son of Cornelius and Catherine (Bohn) Sullivan, born 1785. He was a Lieutenant in the War of 1812, and received land from the government in return for his services, the location of which is not yet known. He served in Capt. William Durbin Jr.'s company, Randall's Battalion of Rifleman, Maryland Militia. On his application for land, he stated that he was married to Mary Laurer or Loran (born about 1794) on Oct. 6, 1816. His marriage license in Frederick County, MD to Mary Loran is dated Sep. 28, 1816. The name Laurer is given to one of his sons and one of his great-grandsons as a middle name. They settled at Uniontown, Frederick (now Carroll) County, MD and built a log house. He was a carpenter by trade and taught the trade to his son John Wesley when he came of age. His real estate was valued at $600 in 1850. He died on Jan. 31, 1853, age 68, and is probably buried in the cemetery in Uniontown. His will filed Apr. 5, 1853 named his wife Mary Ann and only two children; Levi Reese Sullivan; and Julia Sullivan, an invalid; also his brother William. Three of his sons served in the civil war, one paying with his life. From the 1850 census and from information given by some descendants, it appears that Daniel and Mary Ann (Laurer) Sullivan had at least six children:
