The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Corporal Troy J. Baldridge (ASN: 45903), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in action while serving with Company A, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Division, A.E.F., south of Soissons, France, 18 July 1918. Corporal Baldridge voluntarily led four men a distance of about 400 yards in advance of our line and attacked a superior force of the enemy who were attempting to man a machine gun in a disabled French tank. Due to his bold attack, the enemy was driven off and the tank retaken. His company was thereby enabled to continue the advance with slight loss.
