Georgia (Rowe) Boynton was born to parents Clarence and Ida Belle Rowe in Beulah, MI June 2, 1909.

She had five other siblings, Mildred, Grace, Florabelle, Alice and Robert. They lived in places like Beulah, Duluth, Minnesota, and Newberry, Michigan until she was about 14-15 years of age. Then her family moved to the Detroit, MI area.

Her formal education ended after the 8th grade.

In her teen years she met Harold Boynton and on June 2, 1926 they were married.

Harold and Georgia gave birth to five children, Virginia, Ronald, James, Mary Jean and Garey. They always lived in the Detroit area. Georgia was always a homemaker and did not work outside the home.

She was a quiet person and a somewhat fearful lady. Then in the 1930s they moved and became neighbors to the Youngs family on Bentler Street in Detroit.

Around 1936 the Youngs family and others helped lead Harold and Georgia to Brightmoor Tabernacle where they both found a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and received salvation. Their lives were changed forever!

Harold passed away in 1982 after almost 56 years of marriage.

Then Georgia's oldest daughter Virginia soon retired from General Motors and became her constant companion for the remaining years of Georgia's life.

Amazingly, she lived a full life for many years before eyesight and health problems restricted her somewhat. Even then, her existence was good and her interests of smiling and interacting with family and friends, dressing well and looking forward to the next day with a positive outlook carried her along.

A big celebration of her 100th birthday was a part of the news in a lot of places as one of her favorite eating establishments, McDonald's, gave her a party "heard around the country!" . . . literally.

Then on October 28, 2010, after a week in the hospital and a week at home, Georgia slipped away to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ! She was 101 years, 4 months and 24 days . . . "young."

Today, four children, 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren remember 'sweet Georgia Boynton'.
