Suggested edit: Services for Phyllis Behrends Allen, 48, will be held today (Thursday) at the DeLeon Church of Christ. Clarence Brock, pastor, will officiate at the 2 p.m. service.

Mrs. Allen was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Behrends of Dimmitt, both deceased.

She died Monday at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston after an eight-month illness.

She was born January 25, 1932 in Hereford. She married Billy Dale Allen on September 30, 1950, in Dimmitt.

She was a member of the Baptist Church of Balmorhea, Texas, and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Toyah Chapter. She played on Dimmitt High School's state championship girls' basketball team of 1950, and graduated from DHS in 1951.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Keith of DeLeon, and Terry of Hooker, Okla.; a daughter, LaTonia Jean Hohweiler of Garden City, Kansas; two sisters, Mary White and Bonnie Beville of Tyler; and six grandchildren.
