DIMMITT (Special) - Services for George J. Behrends, 76, of Dimmitt, will be at 3 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lenniol Hester, pastor, officiating.
Graveside masonic rites by the Dimmitt Masonic Lodge will precede burial at Castro Memorial Gardens. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Dennis Funeral Home.
Behrends died about 8 a.m. Monday in Plains Memorial Hospital in Dimmitt, following a 14-day illness.
Born in Iowa, Behrends had been a Dimmitt resident for many years. He was a retired trucker. Behrends was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Dimmitt Masonic Lodge and Woodmen of the World. He was active in the Dimmitt fire department.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Johnson (Cook) Behrends; his two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn White of Houston and Mrs. Phylis Gene Allen of Bidwell, Okla.; and two brothers, Andy and Henry, both of Dimmitt.
Firemen from Dimmitt will serve as active and honorary pallbearers.
