Obituary transcribed from microfilm image at the Fairfield Public Library:
Fairfield Daily Journal

Pg. 2 Col. 1
IS BROUGHT TO OLD HOME FOR BURIAL
Word was received in the city today of the death of Mrs. Ada Ballou in Schyler, Nebraska (sic. that could be a misspelling of the location; clarification would be appreciated. No town or county in Nebraska with that exact spelling). She was seventy-eight years of age and a former resident of Fairfield.
The message was sent to Mrs. Nathan Regester, a niece, who lives three miles north of town.
The remains will be shipped to this city Monday morning for burial in Evergreen cemetery. Short funeral services will be held on Monday morning at ten o'clock in the Kerrick Undertaking Rooms.

Wife of John Crawford Ballou. He died on December 9, 1910 and was buried in Nebraska where they lived at that time. Evidently he was buried in a Soldiers & Sailors Cemetery, so when Mrs. Ballou died she may not have been eligible for burial in that cemetery. Thus, she was brought back to Fairfield for burial in the Regester/Inghram family plot.
