Jennie Walker was born in Denmark, Madison County, Tennessee. Her mother died when she was nine years old.

After her mother's death, her father, Patrick Henry Walker, and the children left Tennessee and moved to Prairie Lea, Caldwell County, Texas to join other members of the Walker family, arriving in March 1881.

Her father married again, in 1883, to Sarah Elizabeth Swann, the widow of Thomas Greenwood.

Jennie married Joe Dunlap 7 Nov 1894. They moved to Luling and had three children, Mabel, Jennie May and Marion. Jennie May died as a very young woman.
