Rev. Warren Flenniken was the son of John Osborne Flenniken and the former Miss Mary Reid. He was born in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina on January 9th 1805.

In November, 1832, Rev. Flenniken was ordained and installed pastor of Union and Hopewell Associate Reformed Presbyterian congregations, in Chester County, South Carolina. During this same time, he married Miss Jane Hearst Pressly, the daughter of Dr. Samuel and Elizabeth Pressly of Cedar Springs in Abbeville County. This union had six known children:
Mary Elizabeth (1833-1874)
Samuel Pressly (1835-1855)
Sarah Isabella (1837-1851)
John Calvin (1842-1887)
David Reid (1845-1923)
Warren Harvey (1847-1939)

Rev. Flenniken remained the minister of Hopewell A.R.P. for 18 years until his health required him to retire in 1848. He departed this life on July 31st, 1851 at the age of 46. Rev. Flenniken was survived by his wife and his six children.

Rev. William Flenniken's Last Will & Testament was originally signed on June 28th 1847; with a Codicil added & signed December 2nd 1850. This added his son, Warren Harvey Flenniken, born October 1847. The will was probated in Chester County on the 24th of November 1851, following his death in July 1851.

"Died on the morning of 31st July at his residence in Chester District, S. C., Rev. Warren Flenniken, after protracted and painful illness, in the 47th year of his age. … He was born Jan. 9th, 1805 in Mecklenburg County, N. C. His education until near the period of manhood, was such only as is usually obtained at our primary schools. At this period he entered the Academy at Ebenezer, York District, S. C., at that time under the supervision of Rev. E. Harris. After having completed his academic course, he went to Jefferson College, Pa., and was there graduated in 1829.....His theological studies were pursued under the direction of Rev. Dr. Grier, and partly, under Rev. James Lowry. Hopewell and Union being at that time vacant by the death of Rev. Dr. Hemphill, presented a call to him to become their pastor, which he accepted, and was ordained and installed pastor of the congregation at Hopewell in Nov., 1832. From this period till 1839, he labored with fidelity in these congregations, at which time he demitted Union."
