Joseph Floyd Bell of Lindsay, Oklahoma passed from his earthly life on the morning of September 1, 2010 at the age of 90. Floyd was born on June 1st, 1920 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Joe Bell and Tressie (Miller) Bell.

Floyd grew up in the Dare Community, and he moved to Lindsay when he was in his early twenties. He valiantly served his country during World War II in the United States Army and was awarded several medals including the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Medal. Floyd was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Lindsay. He was a retired painter who enjoyed coin collecting, shopping for antiques and working with livestock.

Mr. Bell is survived by one son, Delbert Bell of Lindsay, Oklahoma, four daughters; Irene Gragert of Allen, Oklahoma, Judy Dubose of McAllen, Texas, Gail Brown of Heavener, Oklahoma and Rita Swanson of McAllen, Texas, eighteen grandchildren, fifty-one great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Mr. Bell was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Jewell Bell who passed away on November 18th, 1951, his second wife, Cora Bell who passed away in February 23rd, 1993 and two sisters, Lahoma Burkes of El Reno, Oklahoma and Beatrice Nelson of Lindsay, Oklahoma.

Funeral services for Mr. Bell are set for ten-thirty a.m. on Saturday, September 4th, 2010 at Missionary Baptist Church in Lindsay, Oklahoma with Bro. Bill Love officiating. Interment will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of B.G. Boydston Funeral Home of Lindsay, Oklahoma.
