Martha H. Bedwell, 91, of 301 W. Beecher, Jacksonville, IL, died Thursday, June 13, 1996 at 5:20 p.m. at Skyview Terrace Nursing Home. She was formerly of Havana, IL.
She was born in Havana on October 19, 1904 to Henry H. and Mathilda Ebken Koke.
She married Charles Goodey December 4, 1929 and he preceded her in death.
She then married R. L. Bedwell on June 1, 1947 and he preceded her in death on July 22, 1964.
Surviving are one son, Howard H. Goodey of Jacksonville, IL; three grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Harry, Otto, and Gerhardt Koke.
She was a member of Salem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville. She was the owner of the Bedwell Grocery Store at the corner of N. Clay and Independence Street from 1947 to 1960.
She later managed the Bread and Love program at the Beecher Hi-Rise and was a Home Health Aide.
Funeral services were at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 1996 in Cody and Son Memorial Home. Pastor Peter Brechbuhl officiated.
Friends called from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial was in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Jacksonville, IL.
