At the age of four he came with his parents to the ranch north of Springview where he resided until moving to Bassett in 1947.
In 1908 he was married to Cora Pettit, and to this union twelve children were born: Kermit of Long Pine; George, Sebeka, Minnesota, twins, Grayton of Springview and Gerald of Hastings, Nebraska; Marjorie (Mrs. Otto Spann), Dallas, South Dakota; Maxine (Mrs. Orville Jamison), Springview; Rolland, Springview, Norval, Terraville, South Dakota; Bernice (Mrs. Fred Seberger), Newport; Clayton, Gordon, Nebraska, and Mary Alice (Mrs. Willis Miller) of Fremont, Nebraska.
He is survived by his seven sons, four daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren and a sister, Minnie (Mrs. Guy Jaques) of Bassett.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1929, mother in 1892, father in 1907, two sisters, Amelia in 1897 and Louisa (Mrs. Carl Fechner) of Stanton, Nebraska in 1970, and one infant son.
Mr. Kurzenberger was confirmed in the Lutheran Church. He was an early pioneer leader in community affairs and development.
Services were held Thursday, April 13, 1972 in the Springview Auditorium. Rev. Robert Klein officiated. Interment was in the Enterprise Cemetery north of Springview. The organist was Mrs. Doris Weddel and the soloist was Harvey Neal. Casketbearers were his grandsons.
