The birth of Laurence Garrod, was registered in Grimsby District, Lincolnshire, in the quarter ended March 1923.

He was the Air Gunner of a Wellington Mark X bomber, MF 200, which crashed while on a training exercise for night flying.

A memorial plaque has been erected in the village of Normanton-on-Soar, Nottinghamshire, near where the plane crashed.
