ARTHUR THACKER IS DEAD
Pneumonia Fatal to Carthage Man --
End Comes in Webb City
Arthur Thacker, 49 years old, died at 6 o'clock this morning in Webb City. Death was caused by pneumonia. He had lived in Carthage many years.
Mr. Thacker had been employed as a painter in Webb City for some time. The body was brought to Carthage today for burial. Mr. Thacker was born in Holden, MO. His father was Mack Thacker.
Up until about five or six years ago, Mr. Thacker was prominent in racing circles. At times he owned some fine horses.
Besides his wife, Kate Thacker, the following relatives survive;
Mrs. Linnie Massey, his mother
Mrs. Reta Stearnes, a daughter
Charles Thacker of Webb City, a brother
Mrs. Rosie Head and
Mrs. Etta Mertin both of Carthage, sisters.

Bethel, July 19 -- This community was greatly shocked last Friday when the message was received that Art Thacker had died in Webb City. He was born in Holden, MO, September 12, 1876. When a small boy his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mack Thacker moved to carthage where he had since resided. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Kate Thacker and daughter, Mrs. Paul Stearns with whom he resided at 1309 Forest Street, his mother, sisters and brother. His death was a great shock to his wife and daughter, as they had not hear of his illness until Thursday morning. When the message was received, Mrs. Thacker was in this community, caring for her aged mother, who is ill. The daughter, Mrs. Stearns, hurried to Webb City to care for her father but was unable to locate him. He had been critically ill since Sunday night. When death came, he was sitting up, dressed, read to be brought to his home in Carthage.
The funeral was conducted from the Knell Chapel.
