Mrs. Anna Elise, wife of Edward Stumpenhorst, was stricken with a cerebral hemorrhage Thursday evening, June 1st, and passed away the following evening without regaining consensus.
Mrs. Stumpenhorst was visiting her neighbor, Mrs. Bert Brower, when she was stricken without the slightest warning. Previously she had been enjoying her customary good health. Physicians were called at once and everything possible was done for the lady, but all efforts proved of no avail.
Mrs. Stumpenhorst enjoyed exceptional opportunities in her early training, coming from a home of devout Christian parents. She will be greatly missed in the church circle and her death is mourned by many friends besides the immediate relatives. There was a large attendance at the funeral services and at the burial, the body, being laid to rest in the cemetery Blue Hill east of town.
• • Mrs. Stumpenhorst was born in Astede, Oldenburg, Germany, April 18, 1845. In 1869, she came to the United States, residing in Pittsburgh, Pa., several years. She married in Pittsburgh in 1870 and after four years was left a widow with one daughter who is now Mrs. Gus Stumpenhorst. In March 1878 she was united in marriage to Edward Stumpenhorst, who survives her. Immediately after their marriage Mr. & Mrs. Stumpenhorst departed for Nebraska, locating on the farm five miles northwest of Blue Hill, which was their home until four years ago when they moved to Blue Hill.
