Son of Beulah F. Jackson who resided in Clarkesville, Georgia.

Robert served as a Corporal & Tail Gunner on B-29 "Joker's Wild II" #42-24857, 871st Bomber Squadron, 497th Bomber Group, Very Heavy, U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.

He resided in Habersham County, Georgia prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on November 10, 1943 at Fort McPherson, Atlanta, Georgia. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed in warehousing and also as Single, without dependents.

B-29 "Joker's Wild II" #42-24857 took off from Saipan on a mission to bomb the Nakajima Aircraft Works near Tokyo, Japan. After bombing their target they had to ditch their B-29 for lack of fuel into the sea.

Robert was declared "Missing In Action" in this crash during the war.

He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart.
