"CHAS. G. SACKETT CALLED BY DEATH
"Charles G. Sackett, 75, retired former maintenance foreman in the El Dorado section for the Stat Division of Highways, passed away Monday evening at his home at El Dorado.
The funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon and the El Dorado Community Church under arrangements concluded with the assistance of Memory Chapel. Rev. J. R. Rudkin will officiate. Interment will be at El Dorado cemetery.
Mr. Sackett was a native of this county, born on August 17, 1869. He retired five years ago after 21 years with the Division of Highways.
Within the past few months Mr. Sackett had suffered a paralytic stroke and although his condition improved somewhat under treatment, he had not been well since that time.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nora M. Sackett, and the following children: Mrs. Elona Enyart, Mrs. Juanita Meyer and Leo W. Sackett of Sacramento; Clarence H. Sackett, of Ukiah, Edward L. Sackett, of Berkeley, and Mrs. Florence Davis of Auburn. Several grandchildren also survive him.

"I posted the birth notice for Charles Grant Sackett. He was born at Stonebraker's Mill (correct spelling of the man's name) near Sly Park. I was going to edit it to Sly Park, El Dorado County but don't think in this time period is what it was called. I think it was just in Diamond Springs Township boundaries. Nonetheless, I thought I'd let you know. I found it interesting but at least he was born in late summer when it may have been cooler up in the hills!"
