Pauline Runge was 11 years old in 1894 when she arrived in New York from Bremen on the ship "Havel". She traveled with her mother (Bertha Meier Runge), four younger siblings (Ella, Milly, Paul and Theodore), and her uncle August Meier. August was already living in Iowa and had traveled back to Germany to visit and accompany his sister and her children.

Obituary: Dike -- Funeral services for Mrs. Pauline Cox, 64, who died at 6:15 am Friday in the home of her son, Vernie here of carcinoma, will be at 1:30pm Sunday in Dahl funeral home at Cedar Falls and at 2 pm in dike Methodist church, with Rev. James Bird, pastor, officiating, born Sept 18, 1882, in Berlin, Germany, daughter of Paul and Bertha Runge, she came to America as a young girl and here was married to John Cox who preceded her in death, April 6, 1945; lived in Bancroft and Dike after marriage; surviving, four sons, Raymond, Fairbank, Ia., Vernie, here; John and Arthur, Waterloo, and one daughter Mrs. LeRoy Burk, Waterloo. Burial in Dike Cemetery.
