John P. Cox, 60, who resided in a trailer near Westfield Avenue, died at 10:30 pm Thursday of a heart attack. He had been suffering from a tumor, had received treatment at Rochester, Minn. After asking to return to his home, he was released from a Rochester hospital last week. He had been ailing for more than a year.
Born July 3, 1884 on a farm in Grundy county, Iowa, son of John Paul and Rachel Cox, he lived the major part of his life on that farm, moving to Waterloo only three years ago. He resided for several months with his son, Raymond, then living at 122 Berlin street. He married Pauline Runge in Grundy county Feb 23, 1911. She has been living with another son, Vernon, at Dike, for several years. Surviving are his wife, four sons, Raymond, 329 Sherwood Drive; John, Arthur, 103 Ivy Street; and Vernon, Dike, Ia.; one daughter, Ella, 103 Ivy street; three brothers, Elmer, near Eldora, Ia.; Vance, Des Moines; and James, Grundy Center, Ia., and one sister, Pearl, Des Moines. The body was taken to O'Keefe and Towne funeral home.
