Arthur Leander Pomeroy was the son of Orange D. Pomeroy and Sarah "Sally" Monfore/Montfore (dau. of Dea. Garrett Monfore and Sarah "Sally" Griswald). He was born on the family farm in Trout Creek, Delaware Co., New York. The farm is now underwater as are many farms since the construction of the Cannonsville Reservoir - one of the main pristine reservoirs that collect and send water to New York City through enormous tunnels.

Arthur married Mary Evelina Kingsbury, the daughter of Charles Kingsbury and Hannah Evelina Fitch.

The family was known for its musical talent and great harmony, perhaps inherited from the Monfore gene, as Arthur's grandfather (Deacon Garrett Monfore) was well known for his singing and was said to have had perfect pitch. The family would travel around the country singing and entertaining at churches and revival tents. After the entertainment and singing portion of the gathering, Arthur would preach an inspirational message even though there is no record of him being ordained as a minister.

Arthur and Mary eventually settled in Lakeview, Michigan where they lived out their years.
